"Building Civil Society" Forum held in Astana

ASTANA.  July 11. KAZINFORM Jeffrey Sexton, PAO at the U.S. Mission in Kazakhstan has delivered opening speech at the plenary session of the "Building Civil Society" Forum organized by Astana Alumni Association in cooperation with IREX, Nazarbayev University and the National Academic Library.

Presenters discussed the features of the development of civil society in Kazakhstan, fundamentals of fundraising, development of library organizations in civil society, media and civil society as well as digital literacy in civil society. This is the first forum for the librarian from all over the country with the international speakers and experts on financial management (trainer - Professor Kenneth Kriz, University of Nebraska at Omaha, USA) and libraries as part of the civil society (trainer - Professor Susan Schnuer, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA). The opening session was aimed to give the general overview of the later trainings and  sessions with the U.S. experts. The forum will run from July 10 to July 12 at the National Academic Library and Nazarbayev University in Astana, the press service of the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan reports.
